What you say does matter!
“There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health.” Proverbs 12:18
King Solomon, who is often referred to as the wisest man who ever lived, gave us some invaluable truths about how to get the most benefit possible out of life. One of the important principles he constantly repeated was the power of our words. Look at some of the statements he made:
Proverbs 18:21 –”Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”
Proverbs 10:11 – “The mouth of the righteous is a well of life.”
Proverbs 12:14 – “A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth.”
Proverbs 15:30 – “The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, and a good report makes the bones healthy.”
Proverbs 16:24 – “Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.”The common theme of these verses is this: what we say can cause our bodies to suffer and deteriorate, or to become strong and healthy. If we constantly make negative declarations, it destroys our faith, so that when we are faced with a physical challenge, we have difficulty believing Jesus can or will heal us.
Conversely, if we declare the promises of God over our lives, we fill our spirits with faith. Jesus’ words to the sick and needy were always filled with promise, comfort and encouragement. In fact, He said concerning Himself, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). He instructed us to speak words of faith when we face impossible situations. He said,”Whoever says to this mountain, ’Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says” (Mark 11:23).
Instead of talking to God about your big problems, start talking to your problems about your big God! You can declare: “I am healed by the stripes of Jesus; “, “I have Jesus’ authority over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt me;” and, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.” Declare it and receive!
Daily Encouragement: Speak words of faith, just like the Healer does. They will be life and health to you.
