Your inheritance
The Healer’s Inheritance
“Behold, I will bring…health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth…Then it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honor before all nations of the earth, who shall hear all the good that I do to them; they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and all the prosperity that I provide for it.” Jeremiah 33:6, 9
Suppose you were an orphan. You never knew your father. When you reached adulthood you had little education or skills, so you lived on a minimum-wage income just to survive. You lived in a run-down rooming house with barely enough food to eat and no money to spend on luxuries like new clothing, decent food or health needs. So you put up with chronic pain, hunger and poverty.
One day an unusual envelope arrived in the mail. Your name was engraved on the envelope in beautiful gold embossed lettering, and an official-looking gold seal was stamped on the back. It looked so impressive that you didn’t want to spoil its appearance by opening it. So you set it on a special stand and displayed it in a prominent place in your shabby little room.
Years later, when you became extremely sick and feeble, you decided to open the letter, since you realized you were about to die. Inside you discovered that your father, whom you never knew, had been incredibly wealthy, and had spent years trying to find you, but to no avail. Private investigators had tracked you down after his death and left the letter in the mailbox for you. The letter revealed that your father had left his entire massive fortune to you. Access to the inheritance was in your possession all those years, but you didn’t know it until it was too late.
So many people possess Bibles. Some have a big Family Bible with impressive gold lettering on the cover that they proudly display. But they are unaware of the inheritance contained in it for them. Jesus has been seeking after His children to lavish the riches of the Kingdom on them: glorious salvation, healing, the anointing of His Spirit, and abundant life. He left His Will in plain sight. It is contained in His Word. The promise is written in His blood and sealed with His authority. He has given it all to us as our inheritance. Maybe it’s time to stop admiring the envelope and read the Will.
Daily Encouragement: Jesus, the Healer provided everything you need to live in wholeness. It’s time to open the Will so that “the eyes of your understanding {will be} enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe.”
